Medical doctors promise to “first do no harm”, while engineers is to “protect the public”. There is an obvious difference in tone: one is passive while the other is active. An active path must be traveled to solve any problem. Solutions do not fall into one’s lap.

The IFORD Institute’s mission is to shine a light on a solvable problem in the healthcare acquired disease. Diseases that occur daily within the healthcare industry is the third leading cause of death among patients annually. These problems represents an industry failure.

Physicians and nurses, like police officers have very difficult jobs to do.  We applaud them all.  Medical advances and good physicians save lives. But medical professionals are not solving of the quandary of modern superbacteria that have become endemic in healthcare facilities.  This plight may be the third leading cause of death in the United States.
